Yasmin is only available on prescription, but you don’t necessarily need to get it from your GP. Many women also take the pill to avoid period pain. Some long-acting contraceptive methods such as the implant and the IUD can also help to reduce painful periods. In addition, Ibuprofen is an effective painkiller for period pain.
