Practical Tips

Dry skin conditions can be difficult to deal with. FOllow these quick tips to help make sure your skin is as protected as possible.

Change your environment - dry air can lead to dry skin. A humidifier can help to keep the air from drying out, and make sure to avoid cold air.
Use a gentle cleanser - many soaps can contain ingredients that cause skin irritation. Avoid soaps containing sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), as this is well known to cause irritation in sensitive skin. Fragrance-free and colouring-free products are often good for sensitive skin types.
Avoid hot water - where possible, use warm water rather than hot. Hot water can strip the protective layer of oil from your skin, and can cause irritation to already delicate skin.
Avoid the sun - sun exposure and tanning can both cause further skin irritation. While some forms of UV treatment can be helpful to some skin conditions (such as psoriasis), this should be performed by a trained professional to avoid overexposure and further skin damage.

FAQ

How does Cetraben Bath Additive work?

Your skin produces sebaceous oils. These oils gather on the skin’s surface, allowing them to form a protective layer. In cases where a skin condition disrupts this layer of oil, the skin can dry out. This can lead to itching, flaking and even infection as the skin cracks.

Cetraben replaces this oil layer. This thin layer helps dry skin by retaining moisture, keeping skin soft and allowing it time to heal from dry skin conditions.

Directions

How To Use Cetraben Bath Emollient

Squeeze the bottle to fill the measure. Once filled, pour into a running warm water bath. Add one measure for every 10cm of bath water. For a baby bath,  add a few drops until the water turns milk.

Once in the bath, cover the affected area and allow to soak for 10-20 minutes.

Cetraben can also be applied to wet skin during a shower.

Once out of the bath/shower, pat the skin dry with a towel. Rubbing dry can cause further irritation to the skin, and may remove the oil layer.
