About Imodium Capsules
Imodium capsules are a quick and effective way to treat diarrhoea; they are easy to take and can be effective from a single dose.
With a formula that has been proven effective for 40 years, Imodium offers a reliable treatment for both new cases and Irritable Bowel Syndrome attacks.
How does Imodium work?
When your digestive system is irritated, it speeds up the digestion process. This stops your body from absorbing water, in favour of flushing the irritant out.
Imodium’s active ingredient, loperamide, slows the digestion process back down, allowing your body to absorb more water and return you to a regular stool.
How long does Imodium take to work?
Under most circumstances, patients have reported feeling the effects within an hour of the first dose. This can vary depending on many factors; if you find that your symptoms have not improved within 48 hours, contact your doctor.
Imodium Dosage
Adults and Children aged 12 years and older - take two capsules to start treatment, then one after each loose bowel movement, to a maximum of 6 capsules in a 24 hour period.
For IBS - take two capsules to start treatment, then one after each loose bowel movement. You may continue this treatment for up to 2 weeks, but do not take for any one attack that lasts longer than 48 hours. Do not take more than six capsules per day.
Diarrhoea can reduce the amount of water in your body - be sure to drink plenty of fluids to replace any lost water alongside this medication.
