How does Oilatum Plus work?

When your skin feels dry, itchy and scaly, its due to the outer layer of the skin losing too much water. Your skin produces natural oil to help hold water within the skin and keep it hydrated.

The skin dries out when too much water evaporates from its surface. This increases as we get older, and is made worse by washing because hot water and soap remove the layer of natural oil on the skin surface. People who suffer from eczema also appear to have less natural oils in their skin.

Oilatum Plus contains light liquid paraffin. They work by leaving a layer of oil on the surface of the skin to prevent water evaporating from the skin surface.

How do I use Oilatum Plus?

The oil can be added to bath water or applied directly to wet skin instead of soap when washing or taking a shower.

After washing the skin should be patted rather than rubbed dry to avoid rubbing off the Oilatum.

Can I use Oilatum while Pregnant or Breastfeeding?

Yes - Oilatum is not absorbed through the skin and is not known to be harmful if you use it in your bath while pregnant or breastfeeding. Just make sure you wash any residual oil off your breasts before giving a feed.

Adults and children: Add 2 capfuls to an 8-inch bath, or 1 capful to a 4-inch bath Infants: Add 1ml (just enough to cover the bottom of the cap) and mix well with water
