About Otrivine Nasal Drops

Otrivine Nasal Drops aim to relieve symptoms of nasal congestion - a blocked and stuffy nose.

Otrivine Adult Nasal Drops contain the active ingredient xylometazoline hydrochloride. This belongs to a group of drugs called ‘sympathomimetics’ which act by constricting blood vessels within the nose, reducing their size and relieving inflammation. They also reduce excessive nasal secretions, helping to open up and clear the nasal passage.

Because of their effect on blood vessels, Otrivine Adult Nasal Drops should be used with caution if you have a heart or circulatory condition, high blood pressure, diabetes, hyperthyroidism or narrow-angle glaucoma. Using Otrivine Adult Nasal Drops

Otrivine Nasal Drops should be applied to each nostril.

After tilting your head back, 2-3 drops should be applied to each nostril up to three times a day.

Otrivine Adult Nasal Drops should only be used in adults and children above the age of 12.

To reduce the spread of infection and to improve hygiene, each bottle should only be used by one person.

You should not use these drops longer than 7 consecutive days. This is due to the risk of rebound congestion on prolonged use of a decongestant.
