What is Piriton?
Piriton is an antihistamine medication, which is used to treat symptoms of hay fever and other allergies, hives, or reactions to insect bites. You can use Piriton for children over 1 years old. It contains the active ingredient Chlorphenamine and each 5ml contains 2mg of Chlorphenamine.
How does Piriton work?
Piriton and other antihistamines work by reducing the allergic response of the body to allergens like pollen. Histamine is produced by the body when it comes into contact with these allergens. This release of histamine causes symptoms such as itchiness, redness and inflamed reactions.
By blocking histamine from working, Piriton stops these symptoms from occurring. Many people use Piriton for hayfever to block the histamine reaction to pollen.

Practical Tips
Hay fever symptoms can be improved with a few simple lifestyle tips. Pollen forecasts are available during the summertime and can be useful in determining when to avoid outside activities.
You should try to keep windows closed when the pollen count is high. Ideally, you should shower and change clothes after being outdoors to avoid bringing pollen indoors. Wearing wraparound sunglasses can help to improve symptoms like itchy, watery eyes.
