About Systane Ultra Lubricant Eye Drops

Systane Ultra Eye Drops are an artificial tear replacement, designed to provide long-lasting relief, help treat burning and irritation due to dry eyes.

Your eyes are normally covered with a film of tears, to help keep your eye protected and lubricated. When this layer is disrupted, you may experience redness, swelling, and pain in your eyes - infection, damage, and environmental factors can all cause this film to be disrupted.

If you wear contact lenses, Systane Ultra can also be used to lubricate and rewet soft contact lenses, making them easier to apply and to help clear particulate matter that may make the lenses difficult to wear.

Does Systane Ultra clear red eyes?

Redness of the eyes is caused by tiny blood vessels on the surface of the eye being broken and inflamed, creating a “bloodshot” appearance. As this redness can be caused by irritation of the eye, eye lubricants such as Systane Ultra may help with some forms of red eye relief - if it does not help, contact your doctor or a specialist eye doctor for advice.

Systane Ultra Side Effects

As with all medications, some users may experience side effects when using Systane Ultra - however, most will not.

As an eye drop, many people may experience blurriness of vision when first applying this treatment. This should pass quickly.

• increased sensitivity of eyes to light
• matting or stickiness of eyelashes
• swelling of eyelids
• watering of eyes

How To Use Systane Ultra 

Wash your hands before applying this treatment.

Tilt your head back, pulling down your lower eyelid.

Do not allow the tip of the dropper bottle to touch your eye.

Allow 1 or 2 drops to fall from the bottle onto your eye.

Close your eye and put pressure on the inside corner of your eye for 1 to 2 minutes. This helps keep the drug in your eye.

Repeat for the other eye if required.

This medication can be used as many times a day as required.

Wash your hands after applying this medication and touching your eyes.

If your symptoms worsen or do not improve after 72 hours, speak to your doctor or pharmacist.

Warnings for use of Systane Ultra 

For external use only.

Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.

Do not use this product if it changes colour or becomes cloudy.

Systane Ultra Eye Drops Ingredients

Active Ingredients - polyethylene Glycol 400 0.4, %, propylene glycol 0.3%

Inactive ingredients - Aminomethylpropanol, boric acid, hydroxypropyl guar, POLYQUAD® (polyquaternium-1)0.001% preservative, potassium chloride, purified water, sodium chloride, sorbitol. May contain hydrochloric acid and/or sodium hydroxide to adjust pH.
