Frequently Asked Questions

  • What if I already use another pharmacy?

That's okay. If you want to switch, once you register with our pharmacy service, we will communicate with your surgery to take over the handling and dispensing of your repeat prescriptions.

  • How much does NHS Electronic Prescription Service cost?

It is a free service. You don't have to pay anything to use the NHS Electronic Repeat Prescription Service for your medicines. However, NHS prescription medicine charges may apply. Click here to see who is entitled to free prescription.

  • Is it possible to use NHS online prescription service outside England?

Currently, the NHS Electronic Repeat Prescription Service is only available in England. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide the NHS online prescription service if you live in the other parts of the UK, unless your GP surgery is in England.

  • Can I have multiple deliveries?

Yes, you can have as many NHS prescription deliveries as required.

  • How much time does my repeat prescription take to arrive?

Once the prescription medicine order is processed, it will be sent to you via Royal Mail 48 hrs delivery. The total time you should leave from when you order your medication to receiving this, is 5-7 business days.

  • Can I use a different delivery address?

Yes, the NHS online prescription medicine can be delivered to any UK address of your choice. However, a signature is required upon delivery.

  • I am not able to sign for my delivery. What should I do?

Generally, Royal Mail will leave a delivery note, including any information about the collection and/or redelivery, if there is no one who can sign for the delivery. Please follow the instruction on the delivery note.

  • How much do I have to pay for the prescription delivery service?

There is NO delivery charge for all NHS prescription orders placed at Simple Online Pharmacy. All orders can be dispatched to any UK address for FREE through Royal Mail Signed For 48 hrs service. Our NHS prescription delivery service has always been free, and will continue to be so! :-)

  • Should my GP be informed about the NHS Electronic Prescription Service?

No, you don't have to inform your GP that you are using the online prescription service. We will communicate with your surgery on your behalf to let them know you have nominated our pharmacy.

  • My GP sent my prescription to the wrong pharmacy, what should I do?

Please get in touch with our customer service team. You can phone us on 0141 774 5023 between 9 am - 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

  • My doctor amended my prescription. What should I do?

Simply, update your prescription order on our website. Please contact our customer service team should you have a problem updating your NHS profile.

  • What is the difference between the NHS Electronic Repeat Prescription Service and the Online Doctor Service?

The Electronic Prescription Service is designed to save time for people who require repeat prescriptions that have been issued by your regular GP. This service allows your prescriptions to be sent directly and electronically to us to be processed and delivered to the address of your choice.

The Online Doctor Service is for new or repeat treatments which are not issued on NHS prescriptions, but paid for privately.

  • I have a generic medication on my prescription, but I want to have the branded version.

If you want to receive a branded version of the prescribed medication, please contact your GP first. We are only allowed to send you a medication that was prescribed by your GP.

  • My prescription medicine doesn't seem to be in stock on your website. What should I do?

Please get in touch with our customer service team as soon as possible. You can phone us on 0141 774 5023 between 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday.

  • What is The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)?

The Electronic Prescription Service is an NHS England service that enables your prescriptions, issued by your GP, to be sent electronically and directly to the pharmacy of your choice. This means you can order your repeat prescriptions online without the need to call your GP. You can nominate Simple Online Pharmacy and get your repeat prescription medications delivered to your address of choice in the UK for FREE.

  • How to get an NHS repeat prescription online?

If you receive medicine on repeat prescription from your GP practice, you can order your repeats online from our website or easy-to-use app. After you create an account and order, your electronic prescriptions will be sent from your GP surgery to our online pharmacy. We then deliver this to you FREE of charge. This makes NHS prescription ordering simple.

  • How much is an NHS prescription?

In England, the NHS prescription charge is currently £9.15 for each prescribed item. Certain groups of people are entitled to free NHS prescriptions, click here to see who is entitled to free prescriptions. If you pay for your prescriptions, a prescription prepayment certificate may save you money.

  • How do I renew my NHS prepayment certificate?

The quickest way to buy a new certificate is online at the NHS business services authority website.

  • How long does it take for my repeat prescription to arrive?

Once the prescription medicine order is processed, it will be sent to you via Royal Mail 48 hrs delivery. The time you order your repeat prescription to the time you receive it should be 2-7 business days. We advise ordering 10 days in advance, to account for the small possibility of a delay either with the GP issuing a prescription or with Royal Mail delivery.

NHS Prescription Delivery

We offer a free repeat prescription delivery service on your NHS repeat prescriptions. Prescription delivery on all NHS medication is carried out by Royal Mail in most cases, and you will receive a tracking number so you can keep an eye on where your medication is in its delivery journey.

Delivery of prescriptions can also be provided for patients who receive fridge or controlled drug items. These require a signature and are sent by Next Day post, packaged with cooling materials. You must be in to receive these items or collect them within 24 hours of an attempted delivery.

At Simple Online Pharmacy, we are working hard to make our ordering process as simple as possible for our patients. Our NHS prescription home delivery service is an essential part of many people's lives, and we aim to provide the highest standard of care to all our patients.

We appreciate any feedback you may have about our service or site, so we can continue to make the ordering process as simple as possible.

NHS Prescription App

We have also developed a Simple NHS prescription app, to make ordering and managing your medication from your smartphone, as easy as possible. The Simple NHS Prescriptions app, by Simple Online Pharmacy, is available in both the Apple app store, and Google Play app store.

You can use the app to manage and order your medications. You can also set your preferences on whether or not you would like to receive your medications via organised pouches (by time and day).
