How to take Mefloquine/Lariam
Mefloquine is usually taken once per week to prevent malaria. Start taking the medicine 1 to 3 weeks before entering an area where malaria is common. Continue taking the medicine once weekly during your stay and for at least 4 weeks after you leave the area. Take your weekly dose on the same day each week.

Mefloquine is an anti protazoal agent which acts on and destroys the Malaria parasite in humans.
What is the dosage of Lariam?
For adults who weight over 45kg, the normal dose is ONE tablet ONCE weekly, starting 2-3 days before departure, and each week and for four weeks after arriving back from the malarial zone.
