Some users (roughly 1 in 1,000 people) have reported hypersensitivity reactions (allergic reactions), including rashes around the treatment area. 

If you experience any of the following side effects, stop using this product and seek immediate medical attention;

  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Skin rashes including hives

In other cases, patients have reported the following side effects;

  • Blurred vision
  • Burning, redness, irritation, itching or pain at the application site.

How To Use Anusol Soothing Ointment 

Wash the anal area and dry with a soft towel.

For external piles - apply the ointment to the affected area using a gauze dressing, morning, night and after each bowel movement.

For internal piles - screw the nozzle provided onto the tube, remove the nozzle cap, and insert the nozzle into the anus. Gently squeeze the tube to deliver the ointment. Apply morning, night and after each bowel movement. Always clean the nozzle after use.

Wash your hands after applying Anusol.

Do not use Anusol ointment more than 4 times a day.

Do not use Anusol for more than 7 consecutive days. If your symptoms last more than 7 days, speak to your doctor or pharmacist.

Warnings

Warnings for use of Anusol Soothing Ointment 

Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the listed ingredients.

Do not use Anusol on broken or infected skin, including anal warts, genital herpes, thrush or jock itch. If you experience any signs of infection, speak to your doctor or pharmacist.

Do not use this product if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as some of the ingredients may be passed into breast milk. 

Not suitable for children under 18 years of age.

Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you;

  • Have symptoms which do not improve after 7 days of treatment
  • Have rectal bleeding or blood in your stool.
  • Are currently taking any other medications, including non-prescription medications. In particular; 
    • Corticosteroids
    • Dexamethasone
    • Prednisolone

Some medicines may cause drug interactions, increasing the effects of Anusol. Your doctor may wish to monitor you if you are using both. These include ritonavir and cobicistat (medicines for HIV).

Active Ingredients - Hydrocortisone Acetate 0.25g, zinc oxide 10.75g, bismuth subgallate 2.25g, balsam peru 1.875g, bismuth oxide 0.875g and benzyl benzoate 1.25g

Other Ingredients - magnesium stearate, cocoa butter, lanolin anhydrous, castor oil, kaolin light, calcium hydrogen phosphate and petroleum jelly white
