Most people who use Lymecycline, will not experience side effects, but if they do, the side effects tend to be minor and short in duration. As their bodies get accustomed to the drug, the side effects should resolve.

Side effects may include: headache, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, nausea, rash and visual disturbances. Some people may experience an allergic reaction to Lymecycline. The symptoms of an allergic reaction include: redness, itchiness or rashes on the skin, swelling in the extremities or the tongue and difficulty breathing. Allergic reactions can be fatal, so if you experience any of these symptoms, then stop taking the drug right away and contact medical help immediately.

In rare cases, Lymecycline can also cause a sensitivity to light (including sunlight) and UV radiation. Therefore, while taking Lymecycline, it is a good idea to avoid excessive exposure to direct sunlight and tanning beds. Make sure to apply sunscreen when you leave the house to reduce the effects of UV.

Other side effects, may also be present, so ensure you read the patient information leaflet for any medication you are taking. If you notice anything unusual, speak to your doctor, who can give you advice on what to do.

What should I do if I don’t experience any change after taking Lymecycline?

If after several days, you do not experience any changes to your acne or bacterial infection, you should speak to your doctor. They are not likely to increase your dose, but may prescribe you an alternative treatment (such as Oxytetracycline).
