About Zineryt
Zineryt is an antibiotic acne treatment solution that contains two active ingredients, Erythromycin and Zinc. It is used in the treatment of mild to moderate acne. It comes initially as a powder and solvent that needs to be mixed together. This is usually done by pharmacists at the time of dispensing and the solution will last for 8 weeks after mixing. You may choose to request your medicine to come not pre-mixed by notifying our team.
How does Zineryt work?
Zineryt works in two ways. Erythromycin is an antibiotic that helps fight against acne-causing bacteria by stopping the bacteria from being able to produce proteins and multiply. This allows the body to balance the number of bacteria on the skin that can cause acne. The other active ingredient Zinc acetate is known to help the skin healing process as well as help to reduce inflammation, redness and swelling of the acne-affected areas.
Using Zineryt
Zineryt is usually applied to the affected area in the morning and evening, after washing your face. When washing your face, you should use warm water, and ideally an oil-free acne wash. Patting your skin dry is also preferable, as this is less irritating to your skin.
After washing, apply Zineryt thinly over the affected areas with the applicator. If drying of the skin occurs while using Zineryt, you may wish to try applying every second night or using a non-comedogenic moisturiser.
It is important that when you apply the solution you avoid sensitive areas such as the inside of your eyes, nose or mouth. If you do accidentally apply some of the medicine in these areas, wash with water for several minutes.
Effectiveness
It can take between four to six weeks before you see noticeable results from using Zineryt. The normal treatment time is 10-12 weeks so patience is important to see the full results.
The effectiveness of the treatment can vary from patient to patient. If you don't feel like you can see any effect after six weeks, speak to your GP about alternatives.
