Spasmonal is a treatment for stomach cramps, designed to treat the symptoms of IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), painful diverticular disease of the colon or period pain.
Spasmonal uses Alverine as the active ingredient. Alverine prevents smooth muscles from spasming, relaxing the muscles and preventing cramp. Alverine works on smooth muscle (the type of muscle you don’t consciously control), including the muscles of the gut, intestine and uterus.

FAQ
What is Spasmonal used for?
Spasmonal is an anti spasmodic medicine. This means it prevents smooth muscle (the muscles not under your conscious control) from spasming. These spasms are one of the main causes of stomach cramps, period cramps, and issues in Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), as well as other medical conditions.
What is Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)?
IBS (sometimes known as spastic colon) is a medical condition caused by periodic spasms of the muscles in the intestines. These spasms can lead to constipation, diarrhoea, bloating, flatulence and stomach cramps. Currently, there is no cure for IBS - however, anti spasmodic medications such as Spasmonal are used to help control the symptoms of IBS. If you regularly suffer from the above symptoms with no known cause, consult your doctor for advice.
