How do Clearblue Pregnancy Tests work?
All pregnancy tests measure the levels of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a hormone that your body produces when you are pregnant. “Early” pregnancy tests are more sensitive to this hormone, meaning they can be used to detect smaller amounts of pregnancy hormones, earlier than a normal pregnancy test.
How accurate are Clearblue tests?
Clearblue tests claim they are 99% accurate from the day of your expected period; as these tests are designed testing early, they may be less accurate before your missed period. Some people may not have a detectable level of pregnancy hormones in their urine before their missed period. First Response claims to be able to detect these levels in 79% of people 6 days before their missed period, then up to 96% within 5 days. After that, the tests become 99% accurate.
The amount of hCG will increase as pregnancy progresses, meaning that later tests may be more accurate as they can much easier detect hCG.

How To Use Clearblue Ultra Early Pregnancy Test
Remove the foil wrapper and the protective cap.
Hold onto the ergonomic thumb grip and either hold the exposed test strip in your urine stream for 5 seconds, or collect your urine in a clean cup and submerge the test strip in your urine for 20 seconds. Do not hold for any longer than 5 seconds, as this may affect the test results.
The colour-change tip should turn pink once it has sampled enough urine. Replace the cap and lay the test on a flat surface, with the test window facing up. Wait a full 3 minutes before reading your results.
Reading Your Results
Once the 3 minutes are up, you can check your results.
If the smaller bubble has a line, and the larger doesn’t, you are not pregnant (negative result).
If the smaller bubble has a line, and the larger one also has a line, you are pregnant (positive result).
It doesn’t matter how faint the lines are - two lines is a pregnant result.
