FAQ

Which Durex condoms are latex-free?

Currently, Durex only runs two lines of latex-free condoms; Durex Latex-Free and Durex Real Feel condoms. Both are similar in size, shape and composition, meaning it’s down to personal preference which one to use.

What is a latex allergy?

Latex allergies can vary from requiring hospitalisation and life-saving treatment to much milder reactions. The most common form of latex allergy is delayed hypersensitivity, also called a Type IV allergy and allergic contact dermatitis. This is a minor allergic reaction, normally presenting as small, itchy bumps appear on the skin, alongside a rash.

Non-latex condoms have minimal potential for induced delayed hypersensitivity - however, we recommend doing a patch test before using these intimately. Rub the product against an area of skin and wait a few hours to see if you experience irritation to judge their suitability for you.

It is unlikely you will have a sensitivity to these condoms - if you experience an allergic reaction, stop using it immediately and speak to your doctor about your options.

Can I use condoms for anal sex?

Some Durex products are suitable for use during anal or oral sex - please check the product description for further clarification.

There are currently no specifications in place for condoms to be used specifically for anal sex. However, we recommend using water-based lubricants to prevent breakage or slipping of the condom you choose to use.

Both oil-based and water based lube are suitable for anal sex - however, take care not to use oil-based lube with rubber condoms, as this can cause damage to the condom, and increase the chances of a break. Durex lubes come in many different types, so be sure to choose the one that suits you best.
