About Microlet Lancets

Microlet lancets are silicone-coated, for easier and gentler testing. With a better grip and less force required to remove the cap, Microlet lancets are a safer alternative to other lancets.

Please note, Microlet lancets are sharp. Take care when handling them, and only dispose of used lancets in a designated sharps bin once you have tested your blood sugar.

Some patients may find that Microlet Coloured Lancets 0.5mm/28G aren't as effective for their diabetes care needs. Here at Simple Online Pharmacy, we have a number of test strips and lancing devices available, including;

Can a lancet be used more than once?

It is advised that you use a new lancet each time, as a hygiene concern. Each new lancet is as sharp as it will ever be; each time it is used, it will be blunted slightly, meaning that the best option is always a new lancet to ensure minimal tissue damage.

However, occasionally circumstances will dictate reusing a lancet. Each lancet should still be sharp enough to draw blood after a few uses, but this is not ideal. Do not share a used lancet with anyone else to prevent cross-contamination.

Why are Microlet lancets different colours?

Each lancet in a pack will be colour coded to help remind you that your lancet should be changed after each use.

Info Leaflet

Before using any product, it is important to read the Patient Information Leaflet. You can find information leaflets for your medicines by typing them into the search bar at medicines.org, or by contacting us.

How To Use Microlet Blood Lancets

Allow your hand to hang at your side and shake it to ensure blood flow.

Grasp the lancet body and remove the protective cap to expose the lancet. Lay the cap on a flat surface and squeeze one of your fingertips. Use the sharp point to draw a pin prick of blood. Use a test strip or device to test the blood glucose levels.

Replace the cap after use and dispose of lancet in a sharps bin

Warnings for use of Microlet Blood Lancets

Do not reuse or share your lancets with anyone. You may give others a serious infection, or contract a serious infection from them. Bloodborne diseases, such as hepatitis and HIV, can easily be spread through shared lancets.

Reusing lancets can cause damage to the lancet and infections.

Used lancets are considered a biohazard. Dispose of used lancets in a sharps container. Speak to your local pharmacy for options for receiving and disposing of your sharps box. If you do not have a sharps bin, you can use a thick, clearly-marked plastic container, such as an empty detergent bottle.

Store out of sight and reach of children.
