Azithromycin has the following treatment dosages available:
Single Dose Treatment & Divided Dose Treatment
- Single Dose Treatment: Take FOUR tablets as a single dose. (Total daily dose: 1000mg)
- Divided Dose Treatment: Take TWO tablets once daily for 1 - 3 days. (Total daily dose: 500mg)

What is the difference between Single Dose and Divided Dose Treatments?
Potentially higher chance of side effects (mainly nausea), that can occur with a single dosage of 1000mg. By taking Azithromycin in divided doses (500mg daily for 1-3 days) may limit the adverse side effects. However, as with all other medication, not all individuals will experience side effects

Directions of use for Azithromycin for Traveller's Diarrhoea
Single Dose Treatment:
Take ALL four tablets as a single dose. Do not take indigestion remedies 2 hours before or after you take this medicine.
Divided Dose Treatment
Take TWO tablets once daily for 1 - 3 days. Space the Doses evenly for a maximum of 3 days, unless you are told to stop by a healthcare professional.
