Nitrofurantoin

While Nitrofurantoin and alcohol do not have any known interactions, it is still not a good idea to mix the two. Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol may affect the effectiveness of Nitrofurantoin.

The antibacterial Nitrofurantoin is used primarily to treat urinary tract infections. It gets rid of bacteria in the body but at the same time can cause a few side effects.

Your doctor may prescribe Nitrofurantoin to treat a urinary tract infection. Due to the risk of side effects, though, you need to be careful about the amount of the drug you take at once.
