The Importance of Vitamins
Vitamins are organic substances, which means they come from animal or plant sources. Minerals are inorganic substances that came from the earth or water, absorbed by plants or eaten by animals.
Firstly, let’s talk about vitamins:
There are 2 types of vitamins:
- fat-soluble – stored within the liver and fat tissues, vitamins A, D, E, and K.
- and water-soluble vitamins – vitamin C and all B vitamins that are not stored within the body.
Dietitian’s Tip:
To make sure that you give your body enough and varied vitamins, you should be consuming around 30 different types of fruits and vegetables a week. Eating always the same vegetables will not provide you with all the vitamins that you need. A varied diet, will help keep you healthy, happy, and committed to your goals!
Fat-Soluble Vitamins
Now that we know the two types of vitamins it is time to understand why they are important. Let’s start with the fat-soluble vitamins:

As you can see there is a mixture of animal and plant-sources containing each of these fat-soluble vitamins so as long as you’re able to have a varied diet then you are sure to get what your body needs.
Water-Soluble Vitamins
Now that we understand how to get fat-soluble vitamins in our diet let’s move on to where to find the water-soluble vitamins and why we need them:

Again, this is just to get you started! Try to find the sources that best match your preferences so you can keep having a healthy and balanced diet throughout your renu journey.
Next up, the final member of your diet:Â minerals!
