The antibiotic Ciprofloxacin, or Cipro, is used to treat infections in numerous areas of the body. It’s often prescribed for treating infections of the bones, urinary tract, skin and lungs.
Malaria, while not a problem in most developed countries, often runs rampant in third world or tropical areas of the world. If you are preparing to travel to locations where malaria is present, you will likely need to take antimalarials.

There are a number of measure you can take to avoid malaria on your next trip in to a malaria risk zone. You should always check the NHS travel site for the latest advice, however the usual measures vary between repellents, clothing and anti-malaria medications.
Drinking moderate amounts of alcohol is unlikely to affect anti-malarial medication. But if you drink excessively, you may reduce the effectiveness of the medication, or you may become drunk more quickly.
While there is no warning listed for Ciprofloxacin and alcohol, it is still not a good idea to consume alcohol while taking it.
