To burn off the calories of a chocolate bar, you have to run four miles! If that doesn’t sound like much fun, replace that with just half an hour of heated sex. Sex is an area often overlooked in terms of our workout regime, but with different positions you can burn calories, tone muscles and have a whole lot of x-rated fun in the process. This sex workout calories calculator will show you the effects of your sex work out and how to take it up to the next level.
How It Works
Step 1. Select the genders of you and your partner. Step 2. Enter your weights or use the weight slider for an estimate. Step 3. Select your sex positions and move the sliders to show their duration. Step 4. Calculate!
Results
The results will show you the muscles used in your sex work out and how many calories you have burnt. It will also equate these calories to different foods and exercises, because who wouldn’t want to have sex instead of running? At the end, you’ll see some suggested positions to take your sex work out up to the next level to help you burn more calories and tone more muscles. If you are keen, you might even use the calculator to create a whole workout regime based on the positions and do a full body workout without having to go to the gym.
Sex Vs. Exercise
1. Want to burn off that hamburger you had for lunch? Try 10 minutes of missionary followed by 25 mins of a squatting position and finish with 20 minutes of doggy style.
2. For the less elite, just 10 minutes of the missionary position is equivalent to 5 minutes of running. Which is more fun, jogging in the pouring rain or having sex?
3. Not all of us could run a marathon, but why not build up the calories burnt through sex instead? 45 mins of masturbation, 30 mins of oral, 2 hours of missionary, 30 mins of cowgirl, 2 hours of doggy and 30 mins of spooning will give you a sex marathon.
4. If it’s weight loss you’re after, if combined with a low-calorie diet, you could lose up to two pounds a week by introducing 30 mins of vigorous sex into your daily work out regime. That’s got to be better than the gym.
5. Why not tone while you bone? – Work out your abs, chest and biceps with heated sex in the missionary position or hold up your partner for a full body work out for you both.
Methodology
When you input your weight and gender, we use metabolic equivalent scores (METs) to formulate the calories burnt per minute of sexcercise. METs are calculated by the amount of oxygen consumed by your body in a given task, multiplied by your weight and the duration of the exercise [1]. We created our own formulae for oral sex and hand jobs based on figures from Woman’s Day’s 8 Sexy Ways to Burn Calories [2], the wheelbarrow calories were from India Times’ 10 Sex Positions That Are Fat-Burning Exercises [3] and for everything else we used the Position of the Day: The Playbook by Nerve.com [4]. Your MET scores for different positions are compared to MET scores associated with other exercises e.g. football and different foods to help you visualise the effects of your sex work out. The MET scores for the food and exercises were inversely created from calorie information provided by Nutracheck [5] and Nutribase [6] respectively. As there is more to exercise than calories we also researched the different muscle groups used in each position. This information was gathered from Guggenheim’s ‘Sexual Fitness’ [7] which identifies the key muscles involved in different sexual positions. With all these aspects, this calculator can tell you the full effects of your sex work out.
