What is Earcalm?

Earcalm contains the active ingredient acetic acid which is an antibacterial agent that helps clear minor outer ear infections.

How does Earcalm work?

Acetic acid works by disrupting the cell or protein structure of bacteria and viruses. This effectively neutralises their ability to infect healthy cells.

Side Effects

Earcalm side effects

Not everyone will experience side effects when taking medicines as they can affect people differently.

Info Leaflet

Prior to using any medicine, it is best to read the patient information leaflet.

How to use Earcalm?

Before using the medicine for the first time you need to press the pump down 2-3 times until you see a fine spray. This is to ensure the device is primed and ready for use. Make sure to point the nozzle away from yourself and others.

Shake well before each use.

Place the nozzle tip gently into the affected ear canal. Press the pump once to deliver a measured dose. Spray one measured dose three times a day leaving at least 2-3 hours between doses. Continue treating the outer ear infection until the symptoms have disappeared for at least two days.

Please note it is important that you put the device gently into your ear. Pushing the nozzle too far into the ear is not necessary and can cause harm.

Do not use Earcalm if:

  • The intended patient is 12 years old
  • The intended area for use is anywhere other than in the ear
  • You have a known allergy to acetic acid or vinegar

You should consult your doctor before use if you have a perforated eardrum. Do not use this treatment for more than 7 days. If symptoms do not improve, worsen or hearing is affected you must seek out medical advice.
